I find that for me, some periods suit a certain scale of play. For instance, WW2 is better for me as a skirmish game, I’ve played grand tactical and just don’t enjoy it. AWI, FIW, Dark Ages, are also skirmish only periods for me. Ancients, WW1 and ACW, ECW and Horse and Musket are all grand tactica...

when i've needed paints that i can't get in Boyes or the Newark model shop then i tend to use Snm Stuff. Not S&M stuff which is where Purps goes. THere is a postage charges but its not too exorbitant (unless you are just buying a single bottle)

my first metal figures were what i thought were Hinchliffe AWI Grenadiers but i think were actually fusiliers from the Modellers Halt in Redcar.
