I find that for me, some periods suit a certain scale of play. For instance, WW2 is better for me as a skirmish game, I’ve played grand tactical and just don’t enjoy it. AWI, FIW, Dark Ages, are also skirmish only periods for me. Ancients, WW1 and ACW, ECW and Horse and Musket are all grand tactica...

when i've needed paints that i can't get in Boyes or the Newark model shop then i tend to use Snm Stuff. Not S&M stuff which is where Purps goes. THere is a postage charges but its not too exorbitant (unless you are just buying a single bottle)

my first metal figures were what i thought were Hinchliffe AWI Grenadiers but i think were actually fusiliers from the Modellers Halt in Redcar. Only bought 2 and that was my AWI collection until about 2010 when i went for 6mm - decided i didnt like them - and then finally for 10mm. Still painting.....

Fantasy armies using the Minifigs D&D range esp the orcs, hobgoblins, gnolls, goblins and kobolds. Caliver have frustratingly re-released a tiny smattering of items from this range but not enough to build an army. And also the The Valley of the Four Winds range! I've got a few but would love to...
