Re: Display games at shows.

I think that both games are useful if they are well run. I've joined in games run by the Lance & Longbow guys and picked up ideas for using some of their tweaks in LR. Display games only have a value if the team are prepared to communicate with interested spectators.

And a Parkinson behind the Lewis gun.
He's old enough to remember it. He'd probably try to sell them a funeral plan. That would make a great scenario, thousands of emus all trying to shove their complimentary pen up Parky's arse.

Re: Anyone trying out new rules?

I agree with just about all the points raised, especially the myth of historically accurate simulation. All I need is a nod towards the accepted wisdom of what went on in the period covered. Non historical gaming is a horse of a different feather though. I bought a bundle of figures and the associat...

There should be a rule that no new page is allowed to begin with the phrase, "And special sauce".

Most excellent models, and I'm impressed by the camo on the helmets.

Oh, it's cammo. There was me thinking that they were mounted Bersaglieri improvising with parakeet feathers.

I'm sure we have a copy of the classic Turkish cookbook "1001 ways to cook an aubergine " round here somewhere.

Re: Anyone trying out new rules?

Buff- that sounds like a problem with balance in the scenarios. What were the rules like? I was getting interested in them as I wanted a D&D-stylee set. I imagine that more familiarity would help but they didn't seem to have some things which we expected. It seems that there is no bonus for ganging...

This could all be solved, of course, by you all binning your 28-30mm miniatures and restarting the whole thing in 6mm. Transportation and storage would also be dramatically improved.
And we could use the money we saved to fly Grizz over for a game.

Anyone trying out new rules?

We gave Otherworld a run out tonight. I don't think any of use were overly impressed. The bar room brawl was highly entertaining but once one of my party made it to the weapons chest it was pretty much game over. If we had played another turn I would have had 3 out of my four fighters carrying weapo...
