Possible Shinycon '19

Post by goat major »

Tim H and I have been thinking the possibility of a Shiny 42mm Toy Soldier game sometime in 2019. Location and timing to be arranged but not to clash with any other LAW events obviously.

Figures - 42mm and shiny - no matt allowed in a 6 mile radius.
Period - maybe late 19thC, maybe using my 1895 background but want to include anyone doing stuff from another period or imagination so pretty flexible on the setting
Rules - A Gentleman's War from Howard Whitehouse (currently available from Howard as a draft if you join the yahoo group - https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/gro ... nsWar/info )

i realise its early and at the moment just trying to get a sense of who might be interested and give potential attendees enough time to send their hard earned pennies to Spencer Smith/Irregular. I'm happy to do the organising - just post here if you like the thought of being a shiny member

My friend Matt would have loved to come as he has an extensive 42mm collection but he'll just have to be disappointed...

2019... I'm sure I can paint the Swans by then....

Obviously yes.

Though 2019 is way too far in the future for me to commit entirely.

Probably not due to travel constraints and work but I will have to paint some shinies anyway...I have been trying to resist for months.

Unfortunately it depends very much on location for me. As my relatives have been very inconsiderate in selling their house in the midlands I no longer have a potential base down there. However if I can be there, i'll be there. Even though my not-Danish might be a bit anachronistic their not-Norwegian opponents might be a bit more in period for later C19th.
Oddly, I had been wondering if 42mm might be the ideal Ayton Anniversary game as small numbers of figures allows us to get back more to the ethos of Ayton 1.

As much as I love LA gatherings, I doubt I’ll be at this one. I just don’t understand the whole Old School gloss thing. Never mind being in a completely impractical scale!

Still, I’m sure in typical LA fashion much fun will be had. And EB will be ribbed mercilessly.
