I think that's one of our problems (at the tournament level) - the armies are too big. We play 800 (singles) or 900 (doubles) and it's difficult to get a result, especially when average troops now hold out for an extra base over previously. I think if we went for 750/850, and a maximum of three generals, it would give more results.

Interesting view & suggestion.

I tend to agree but every time I have suggested this I get the "I want to play with lots of toys" response or the "if the games are shorter/quicker I want to play more games each day" response.

With the latter I suspect the combination of large armies, long games and long days results in all players losing their cutting edge as the day progresses.

Thanks EB. Heavily influenced by Steve Dean and honed by years of trial and error.
