The Battle of Mollwitz 1741 (Scenario)

Post by RMD »

After a gap of some 20 years, I'm having a game of 'Tricorn' on Tuesday with my old mate Gareth. I thought we'd have a go at the Battle of Mollwitz, Fred the Big's first battle, as it's a fairly straightforward 'Line 'em Up & Bash' battle that we should get finished on a club-night... Yeah, as if... Anyway, here's the scenario. BatRep to follow:

This should be good - I already have my copy of "The Wargame" (C Grant snr) off the shelf and open at the appropriate page.....

A classic. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

If Romers Austrian Cavalry can get a decisive victory then the Austrians have a chance.

Cheers fellas! Yes, it is a classic 18th Century wargame. I think this will be the 4th or 5th time I've played the battle. Just finished labelling up the units and looking forward to it. :)

One of my favourite battles, looking forward to the photos and AAR.

First time I fought Mollwitz was around 1975/6, using mostly unpainted plastic Spencer Smith, with my younger brother.

We played on my mums living room carpet which worked well as it was white.

I think my brother won the game - at least that is what he keeps telling me.

Gareth got a bit carried away with the 'snowy photoshop' after last night's game...

Oh well, at least none of it got onto the bases.

That looks splendid, guys.

I've seen photographs of Mollwitz wargames so many times.......I think these are the pick of a classy bunch.

Nice.
