Apologies for being pedantic.

Re: Lochdogh Militia
(I was always taught no "e" in Scotch - as in the drink, not the folk - only for Irish. Is it always with an "e" in the Senior Service?) No, you're correct. The "e" stands for 'Erin'. The Yanks also spell it with an "e" which in their case stands for 'eejit'....

Re: Lochdogh Militia
I love a good back story nearly as much as I love good figures, so win:win here, Will.

Zaphir & Abbas..& BP
My Mahdist War collection has not seen outside storage for several years so I decided it was time to re-vamp & then game. I'd previously built 2 Nile steamers for or games but found I could add some improvements - nautical items such as life preservers etc, some added on bits to the boilers - va...

Re: Lochdogh Militia
Lowlanders? Rather a fancy lot to be drinking red wine.
I'm assuming a 'what-if' unit? Your choice of colour once again "pops".

A fortified place
The excellent Anyscale sent me a few pieces I needed to complete my Scottish fortified town - some wall sections & a ruined tower. To this tower, I added a floor from wooden sticks I had. There was a small gap in the walls, so I scratch-built a postern-gate on one side. I cleaned, based & pa...

Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
The figures are wonderful but I also like the "incidentals"- the pig sty etc.
Looks like the sort of game anyone would love to play.

Re: Maxen- a SYW approximation
It looks like youse had a good game, mate. Is it pencilled in for a replay? Funny, you should say that. "Von Winterfeldt" emailed me today & said he would look forward to a re-play. We only had just over 2 hours & he'd never played AGW before so not surprising we only got to the &...

Re: Maxen- a SYW approximation
Looking good, Ochoin. My money's on the Austrians. :-) A game of this size was a bit ambitious for a mid-week slot & we didn't actually finish. My main body Austrians were pushed into slow-moving lines by a bit of clever aggressive posturing by their infantry & some sacrificial charges from...

Re: Maxen- a SYW approximation
Thank you. Several of us here cover the SYW. I'm glad there's no ranking because I don't think I'd score particularly highly but nonetheless, it's a favourite period of mine. I am glad to "sneak" in a game amidst a lot of attention on the ECW and other periods.
