Re: Tight wad
The affordability is obviously linked to peoples personal circumstances but if you spread your costs over hours of enjoyment then i think its a pretty cost effective hobby. Compared to golf, or eating out or the cinema or going to a footie match (even if it is 90 minutes of rapturously enjoyable wo...

Re: Matt Bickley's Vikings
I was tempted for the shaman in the first 24hours, but I missed it due to KS losing my payment details so now I'm not sure.
The "army" packs work out at over £2 a figure and the RRP is (on average) £3 a figure as the packs are 30 figures for £64 (RRP £90).

Re: Matt Bickley's Vikings
I considered those and the problems for me are that you need to buy a lot of rank and file to get the characters, the "rank and file" aren't really suitable for anything other than skirmish games and there's too many archers in the pledges. They are undoubtedly lovely figures if you're onl...

Re: Ayton 3rd-5th May, 2024
Unfortunately it looks like one of our four for Sundays Dark Age game has had to bow to the pressure of a previous commitment
This leave us one player short from the ideal four players.
So is there anyone who has yet to commit or who fancies a pop at become a Dark Age King in Arthurian Britain?

Re: Walls
Most Castles in Scotland probably were exactly as the OP looks, a decent wall surrounding a tower and a few "hairy-roofed bothies"?BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 10:10 pm I just think that walls of that size and sturdiness would have been protecting a proper castle establishment rather than a few hairy-roofed bothies.

Re: Firelocks
Probably not as good a set of wheels as Donald's Quandry, though. Quandries are quite popular in Oz. I thought a Quandry was a marsupial, limited to Western Australia, with a subspecies in Tasmania? Known for its "WTF" facial expression. It is endangered due to it's near terminal indecisi...

Re: Firelocks
* Quandry- a Korean-made hybrid car, quite comfortable to ride in though not as good as the Chinese-made X-Peng Perplexity** ** They should really get me to devise car names. I'm not sure i'd forever want to be in a Quandry when driving! However it couldn't be worse than Fords penchant for naming c...

Re: Firelocks
Early flintlocks were quicker to fire than matchlocks, but nowhere near as much as later flintlocks mainly due to their bulk. The main differences seem to be in safety and training needed. Flintlocks needed less training to use, safely and effectively, and achieved a higher rate of fire due to less ...

Re: Firelocks
This is my personal and probably incorrect view of the matter! :D Small units of shot interspersed with cavalry, were probably protected by the cavalry as much as larger units were protected by the pike. Small units of shot, including firelocks should not have a compulsory evade move when charged by...
