The ECW (the Scottish bit)

Post by ochoin »

2019's project for our little group was the ECW. The "year" culminates in a 2 day game at the local Hobby & Train Show - we've been doing this for 13 years now.

We elected to do a "what if" battle: The Battle of Auchtentoshan which featured Montrose's Scots and the army of the Covenant....with some Royalist & Parliamentarian armies thrown in.

Some photos:
Overview
Image
Some of the numerous & largely useless Covenant artillery:
Image
Montrose's rabble (you can tell whose side I was on)
Image
The Covenanters, hedging their bets
Image
I was actually winning till the Sassenachs turned up
Image
Scots Horse looks lovely but essentially only good for running away
Image
Montrose's Foot just before I routed them!
Image
Essentially, it was the Royalist Horse that won the game

Game's end, the Good Guys in retreat, everywhere

Field of Glory: Renaissance, I believe - lovely armies, Donald.

Spectacular, those chaps in the foreground of photo 3 loo as though they are potting pheasants.

Yes, FoG;r.

Many of the figures are Tumbling Dice with the remainder being plastic.

Losing the game certainly wasn't an issue (I'm used to that) but I lost the distillery at Auchtentoshan. All that lovely single malt carted back to England.
