The Cassinga Raid (Angola 1978) - My 2019/20 Demo Game

Post by RMD »

Well the terrain is finally built, the troops painted and the aeroplanes are in the air, so we did a dress-rehearsal game of the Cassinga Raid at club today. What with teaching lots of novices the rules, we didn't get to the Cuban counter-attack phase of the battle, but it was still a hoot and I was very pleased with how the terrain looked (even if mould suddenly started growing on my varnished rivers after only 30 minutes in a warm and humid room...! :o ).

Oh wow! That's really impressive attention to detail. It must have been a joy to play on.

Clever fellow.

Cheers, yes it was great. The 'colour-coded' flock to define different terrain types was certainly a huge aid to play - far better than vaguely-defined areas of trees or bits of old carpet.

I'm not sure about those circular AA emplacements though. They look too big for my little AA guns.

That looks absolutely great, I’m going to regret not seeing it in the flesh. Best of luck for the show.

I see what you mean, how about filling them up with ammo boxes, discarded backpacks, stores of varying kinds? I think it’ll make them look less ‘spacey’.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

What a phenomenal table. And a true manoeuvre sur les derrieres by the SADF.
