Where can I get 28mm WW2-era pack mules?

Post by BaronVonWreckedoften »

I'm looking for a bunch - maybe eight - to use as JOPs for my CoC Malaya set-up. Brigade Games do a nice little set of two Japanese soldiers, each with a mule, and the loads look "contemporary" (ie no pikes, muskets, bows and arrows, etc), so I thought I'd order two of those packs, but one man and one mule per JOP didn't look enough, so.......

Same criteria - crates/boxes/drinking flasks etc (or a dismantled mountain gun!). Any ideas?

Tiger Miniatures, they have several types of pack and one with no pack just a saddle. I used them in Burma, WWI 1914 and Rhanzlistan.

I'm thinking of a pile of bicycles for the Japanese JOP. But mules would be cool as well, if there's a source for 28mm I would be interested.

Incidentally, does anyone in the UK stock Brigade Games figures? The postage from the US is eye-watering!

North Star used to - I've sent them an email to ask if they still do.

Just noticed that BG have a pack of four mules with loads. If I can get them through NS I'll let you know.

Buff/Penda - thanks for the leads; those Tiger figures aren't bad, are they?

If you can't get pack mules, how about pack elephants? They were fairly commonly used by Japanese forces. I've seen the odd mountain artillery pack elephant in colonial ranges, but can't think of one offhand. Foundry did a transport elephant and an artillery-towing elephant for the Indian Mutiny that should be easy to convert.
