I'm finding the same with my Warlord WW2 Japanese infantry - the arm choices alone are mind-boggling.

One on each side is a good start.

Completed one 12 man unit (unarmoured) with officer and signifer. They weren't too bad to assemble per se BUT there are too many choices of arms and I may have screwed up with a couple of torso's getting the wrong arms. Shield transfers are from LBM studios.

They look the mutt's, Ken.

I've just applied a few transfers to some medieval types.....................arrrrrrrrgggggggggh! You seem to have the knack.

Thanks for the kind comments. Applying the transfers was easy enough. I had painted the front of the shields white as recommended and carefully cut the transfers out with scissors, using a craft knife would have been a too messy. I'm pleased to say LBM studios had already punched out the centre boss.
