Not Exactly a Wargame

Post by World2dave »

I recently dusted off a boardgame I made quite a few years ago to explore another interest - motor racing.
I thought I'd take a couple of pics and post them here as I think there is at least one other member who likes the smell of racing fuel in the morning!

This game represents the Le Mans 24 hour race, set back in one of its heydays (the late 60s/early 70s). It was a follow-on from a Formula 1 game I made. I did the rules, board, cards and other bits. I made the masters for the cars and a friend cast them. It still plays pretty well, but it's kept me from getting much painting done!

That’s very impressive! But, you’re right, it’s not exactly a wargame...😉
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

That looks very pretty indeed, the cars look wonderful. How many points does it cost to add missile launchers and razor wheels ?

My bad. I've done a wargame boardgame or two in my time too, will post pics if I dig them out sometime.

Thanks guys.

Old School - so do I! Had a lot of fun times with it.

Fantastic, I've probably almost hid the fact that Motor racing is probably my most enduring passion.
Great looking game, but does it take 24hrs to play? :D

Is it this one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_1_(board_game)

We had this when I was a boy - I think I got it for Xmas when I was about 6 - but we never really played it (I think the women of the family found it "too complicated").
